50 years of BED PEACE

50 years of BED PEACE

This week marks 50 years since John Lennon and Yoko Ono organized their bed-in for world peace. The bed-in needs little explanation. It is a phenomenon that is still very much alive. All newspapers of the Telegraph till the Volkskrant have been full of them lately. Het Parool has even made a separate supplement for it and the Hilton Hotel has dedicated a beautiful photo exhibition to it. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely go, you can also take a look SUITE702.

We also think it is a fantastic event. It is not without reason that the name of our brand is a reference to the Bed-in of John and Yoko. We have often been asked why we chose the brand name SUITE702. That's all pretty associative. Here it comes:

  1. BED PEACE

John Lennon and Yoko Ono knew their wedding was going to be a media spectacle. That marriage and everything around it would receive a lot of attention. So they decided to use it to draw attention to something that they consider very important: world peace. Unfortunately still a very topical topic.

As a bedding brand, world peace is of course quite a long way from us. Nevertheless, we believe that a good night's rest is a good start.

“We can't promise you world peace overnight,
but a good night sleep is a hell of a start ”

  1. BED LINEN FROM AMSTERDAM

John and Yoko's Bed-In was an Amsterdam phenomenon. And not necessarily because he was in Amsterdam, but mainly because it was proof of the creative, free and open-minded culture of our city. There is so much trouble in the world. Then and now. It is okay to go against that a bit. We have always been amazed at how preserved and frumpy especially the better bedding is. As a real Amsterdam brand, we like to bring a little color into the bedroom, literally and figuratively.

  1. HAIR PEACE

John and Yoko just went to bed for a week. There were journalists who criticized; “What would you really achieve with this. How does it affect world peace? What was the bigger plan? ” Others expected to have sex in front of the press.

The whole plan was not that sound. It was a honeymoon with a lot of love and freedom and a little drugs.

Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton
Talking in our beds for a week
The newspapers said, say what you doing in bed?
I said, were only trying to get us some peace

If you're lucky, you spend about a third of your life in bed. So it is really worthwhile to purchase nice bedding. But fair is fair, it's just bedding. We prefer not to take ourselves too seriously. Let go of your hair.

  1. SUITE LIFE

There is some confusion about the room where this whole party took place. It was once Room 902, later it was transformed into SUITE702. With our brand we call on people to celebrate life in bed. You do that with wonderfully luxurious bedding. Live like you live in a 5 star hotel. The suite life. That's why SUITE702.

Spend a week in bed with the two of you. Living in bed. That was a good idea then and it still is and it always will be.
