Everything you need to know about fitted sheets

A good night's sleep starts with comfort and hygiene. And what is an essential part of a comfortable bed? That's right, a fitted sheet! At SUITE702 we know how important it is to take proper care of your bedding, that's why we would like to tell you everything about fitted sheets: from washing to folding and why a fitted sheet is important for a good night's sleep and hygiene.

A fitted sheet & duvet cover, what's the difference?

People often confuse a duvet cover (sometimes also called a duvet cover) with a fitted sheet. The difference is simple: the fitted sheet lies on the mattress while the duvet cover goes around the duvet. So if you wonder where you are at night, first check whether you are between your fitted sheet or your duvet cover!

Make your bed.

Making your duvet is a job that no one wants and which you can easily confuse with the length and width of the fitted sheet. SUITE702 has a handy trick: the logo is always on the right side of the height/thickness, which indicates that this is the width. This way you never have to doubt again!

Washing the fitted sheet

Washing your fitted sheet is essential to maintain a fresh bed and remove any bacteria. But how exactly do you go about that? Our fitted sheets are made of high-quality material that is easy to maintain. We recommend washing them at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius to keep the color beautiful. It is also possible to wash them at 60 degrees for a more thorough cleaning. This may cause the colors to fade slightly, but this especially applies to darker colors. You can wash light colors at 60 degrees. However, avoid using bleach as it can damage the fabric. After washing, our fitted sheets can simply be put in the dryer on a low setting. This way they stay wonderfully soft and ready for your next night's sleep.

Why a well-breathable fitted sheet?

Why is a fitted sheet so important? In addition to protecting your mattress against dirt and wear, a fitted sheet also provides extra comfort. It adds an extra layer of protection to your bed and keeps your mattress in optimal condition for longer. Although you see a fitted sheet less than, for example, your duvet cover, your body has the most contact with a fitted sheet. Fine, soft material is important, but it is equally important that the fitted sheet breathes well. Therefore, do not underestimate the impact that a good fitted sheet can have on your sleep quality and the lifespan of your mattress.

Step-by-step plan for folding fitted sheets

Folding fitted sheets can seem like a challenge, but with our simple step-by-step plan it becomes a piece of cake.

  1. Lay the fitted sheet flat on a flat surface with the corners facing up.
  2. Fold the long sides in so that the elastic edges overlap.
  3. Then fold the fitted sheet into thirds lengthwise.
  4. Repeat this process on the other side.
  5. Finally, fold the fitted sheet widthwise and voilà, a neatly folded fitted sheet ready to be stored.

Hygiene and the importance of a fitted sheet

Last but not least, let's talk about hygiene. A clean fitted sheet is crucial for a healthy night's sleep. Not only does it protect your mattress from dirt and moisture, but it also helps keep allergens and bacteria at bay. Regularly washing your fitted sheet contributes to a fresh and hygienic sleeping environment, which is essential for a good night's sleep and a healthy body.

In short, a fitted sheet is not just an accessory for your bed, it is an essential part of a comfortable and hygienic sleeping environment. Take the time to properly care for your fitted sheets, from washing to folding, and enjoy a wonderful night's sleep in a clean and fresh bed.
